CAMEO REFUSE DISPOSAL AREA No. 1 (CRDA 1)
Drainage for the CRDA 1 consists primarily of collection ditches leading up the
side of the pile. Due to the small area, approximately 2.8 acres, a diversion
above the pile was not installed prior to construction. Exhibit 9B shows the
details of drainage around this pile and Appendix 13 -2 has the 100 year, 24 hour
precipitation event design for the SE collection ditch and the NW collection ditch.
These collection ditches direct runoff into Pond 6. Drainage from above the pile
is diverted around the pile. The SE collection ditch design included a culvert
where Haul Road 5 led onto the pile. This culvert was removed and replaced
with a rip rap ditch during the final reclamation of the pile in 2010. Two culverts
formerly draining across this access road have been eliminated by Public Service
Company as part of MR -12. In cooperation with Public Service's letter in
Appendix 13 -7, drainage design and maintenance on the south side of Haul
Road 5 will be left up to Public Service as part of their ash dump drainage.
Areas of alternate sediment control are listed in Table 13 -5 and include straw
bale and dirt berm dikes placed around reclaimed topsoil stockpiles 5 and 6.
These stockpile areas were regraded and seeded in 1994. As of May 2001 the
vegetation on these two areas are adequate to control erosion, see appendix 14-
6.
NORTH DECLINE
The North Decline West diversion ditch #1 and East diversion ditches #1 and #2
will remain as permanent features and continue to divert unaffected runoff
around the reclaimed area. Additionally, the 12" V ditches flowing to the
permanent channel, the berm along the east perimeter and the 12" CMP shall
remain as permanent features as depicted on Exhibit 12C. Berm breaks will be
installed along the permanent channel to allow reclaimed area drainage to enter
the channel. The intermittent stream channel was reestablished as a wide rip -
rapped channel. Pond 7 was enlarged to accommodate more of the reclaimed
area drainage east of the channel. Shallow depressions, the East and West
Sumps, were excavated for alternate drainage control east and west
TR -62 13 -10i Rev 10/11
