rock fill consisted of durable (non - erodible) material. The fill was placed as
shown in Exhibits 7B and 22. The size gradation was in accordance with the
Army Corps of Engineers' specifications, since a permit was necessary for
placement of the material.
ROADSIDE NORTH PORTALS (RSN)
Drainage above the RSN operations was collected in diversion ditches and
transferred around the operations area to the east and the west. Drainage within
the reclaimed area was directed to one of two locations: Pond 13, or the
sediment fence. A berm transected the reclaimed area in a northeasterly
direction. Run -off below the berm was directed to the sediment fence and run-
off above the berm was directed to Pond 13. Runoff from the topsoil piles 1 and
2 was directed to Pond 13. The sediment fence was removed in 2009 with the
approval of TR -58 and Pond 13 will be removed upon approval of PR -5.
See Tab 14 for a description of the ditches to be constructed and made part of
the permanent East and West Diversion Ditches. These ditches are designed to
accommodate storm runoff from the drainage originating on the slopes above the
reclaimed area.
Areas around the RSN operations area that were covered by alternate sediment
control include the powder and cap magazines. Further descriptions of these
areas are given in Table 13 -5 with backup information in Appendix 13 -3.
PR -5 13 -10 (Rev. 02/12)
