EXHIBIT "H"
6.4.8 Wildlife Information
(1) Description of game and non-game resources on and in the vicinity of the
Operation:
(a) Significant wildlife resources on the affected land:
There are no known significant wildlife resources on the areas which could be affected by
the proposed operation. A Wildlife Statement and request for comment letter on the
application will be sent to the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife(CDPW)when the
application is found complete.
(b) Seasonal use of the area:
There are no known significant seasonal uses of the proposed area by wildlife. Since the
site is proposed to be mined in phases and each phase will be reclaimed in sequence,
significant impact on wildlife should be minimal.
(c) The presence of threatened or endangered species:
The site is an active mining area and there are no known threatened or endangered animal
species on the existing and proposed permit area. However, we are waiting on the
CDPW response to our comment letter in order to address this question as needed.
(d) Describe the effect of mining and reclamation activity during and after the
proposed operation on existing wildlife:
Given this will be a phased mining operation, with reclamation following in sequence;
the proposed operation should have a relatively minor impact on wildlife. Once mining
and reclamation are complete, the area will be returned to its pre-mining use, rangeland.
Any impact which might have occurred in relation to wildlife should be mitigated
through site reclamation.
(2) Division of Parks and Wildlife comments:
A request shall be sent, certified mail, to the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife
(CDPW). We will provide a copy of their response, if received. Where possible, the
Operator/Applicant will attempt to minimize impacts to wildlife and follow CDPW
recommendations.
42
