The
project, located approximately 5 miles southwest of Gateway, Mesa County, Colorado, entails
mining UraniumNanadium ore from an existing low grade ore stockpile in the vicinity of the
October Mine, and transporting ore to an off-site mill in UT. The total proposed disturbance to
be reclaimed on public lands under this Plan is approximately 0.35 acres. The proposed activity
was authorized on September 5th, 2008. The Plan has been in temporary cessation status for at
least the past 5 years.
On November 13th, 2017, a site visit was made to the October Ore Pile Plan of Operation area by
BLM Geologist, Eric Eckberg, CO-DRMS Geologist, Stephanie Mitchell, and yourself, in order
to discuss minor changes Nuvemco would like to make to the Plan. These changes include:
leaving the ore pile in place due to market conditions, reshaping the ore pile to reclaim
disturbance made during bulk sampling and maintain stability of the pile in perpetuity, and
sourcing of topsoil to be used for reclamation purposes.
