AXOM
Henderson 3 Dam Buttress Design
January 26, 2018
Page 7
Mode! Geometry
Model geometry was developed using pre -construction (1974) topography and current topography
Internal geometry, including coarse and fine tailings, as well as foundation material, was developed
by reviewing 21) cross sections, available CPTs and drill logs, depositional history and using
engineering judgment.
Figure 8 and 9 provide the developed 31) model geometry of 3 Dam with Stage 1 buttress when crest
is at elevation 8,883 ft. Figure 10 shows the developed 3D phreatic surface of the model for Stage 1
buttress. Similar figures are provided for the final stage buttress with crest elevation of 8,900 ft and
presented on Figures 11 through 13.
Materia! ProDertie5
Soil properties used in the 3D factor of safety analyses were as follows:
1. Total unit weight
2. Shear stiffness parameters
3. Undrained shear strength and residual shear strength
Table 2 summarizes the material properties used in the factor of safety analyses.
M.1DO8iPROJEOT8WiRR40651 HENT_ B SON_ 3 OM BUTT M WZGN LETTER REPORT REV B_ FINhL0OC7C
