2.05.3 <br />(2) Operation Description - Underground Mining <br />The proposed surface disturbance associated with the underground mining <br />activities within the permit area include; 1) haul roads; 2) access roads; 3) <br />light use roads; 4) a utility corridor; 5) benches for mine facilities; and 6) a <br />coal mine waste pile. <br />The proposed disturbed area is shown Figure 2.2-1. <br />1. Haul Roads <br />One haul road (Haul Road #1) will enterthe propertyfrom State Highway 139 <br />and proceed to the portal area. See Figure 2.2-5. A second haul road <br />(Haul Road #2) will be used to haul coal mine waste to the coal mine waste <br />pile. <br />2. Light Use Roads <br />There are light use roads located above the proposed mine workings in the <br />southern portion of the permit boundary. Additional light use roads include: <br />#1 provides access to a material storage area; #2 provides access to the <br />stockpiles and sediment pond; # 3 as shown on Figure 2.2-2 provides access <br />to a power meter. A light use was constructed to access an emergency <br />borehole (MR -37). The road is located in the north fork of Munger Creek. It <br />is approximately 1.5 miles long and traverses over fairly level terrain. <br />Responsibility for this emergency light use road is being transferred to the <br />Munger Canyon Mine. <br />3. Utility Corridor <br />Electrical power is delivered to the mine by an overhead power line from the <br />south. The power line, owned by Grand Valley Power, is approximately <br />6,000 feet long. <br />4. Benches <br />As shown on approved Figure 2.2-2, there are four distinct areas of <br />disturbance for the surface facilities. They are: <br />1. Portal area <br />2.
