December 6, 2017 C-1980-007/West Elk Mine LDS <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br /> <br /> Page 3 of 11 <br /> <br /> <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br /> Contractors from Beavers Construction were finishing up the earth work to reclai m the E5-8 pad. <br />Pad E5-14, and a short section of the spur road had been reclaimed and seeded. <br />The earth work to reclaim pad E5-12/13 had been completed but the pad had not yet been seeded. <br />Pad E5-11 had been left as an equipment/material staging area. <br /> <br />SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12: <br /> Repair work to the MSB had been carried out, with the surface of the bench filled and compacted at the <br />site of the slump. The damaged area was protected with a berm, so there is no potential for additional loading. <br />Further work is necessary to ensure that there is no chance for water to pool. <br />At the toe of the slump there was an obvious bulge in surface of the MSB outslope and a steep (almost <br />vertical) cut slope at ditch D5E-31. Work is needed to stabilize this area before the material gets saturated again. <br />A large rock that had fallen onto the slope adjacent to the RPE had been broken up and distributed at the <br />site. <br /> <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> E-seam mine ventilation borehole pads (E5-8, -14, and -12/13 were inspected).
