Job No: 360100-004-04 Client: LRM Page 1 of 26
TELESTOTask: Recl'n Cost Estimate Computed By:D. Bauer Date: 9/7/17
S O L U T I O N S• r4 C n R P n R A t E D
DRAFT-For DRMS Review Checked By: W. Niccoli Date: 12/30/17
Calculation Documentation
Problem Statement:
Loveland Ready-Mix Concrete's (LRM's) proposed Knox Pit and associated concrete batch plant plan
(i.e., LRM LaPorte Operations) presented to the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
(DRMS) includes five phases with concurrent mining, material processing, backfill and reclamation of
the mine pits. Prior to the operation being permitted by DRMS, the information required to estimate
the reclamation costs associated with the different phases is required. Not all mining phases will be
active at once, and reclamation of early phases is planned to be complete before commencement of
activities at later phases.
Objectives:
1. Summarize quantities necessary for reclaiming the Knox Pit and associated operations
throughout anticipated mine life
2. Document the process for determining reclamation costs for the proposed Knox pit, LaPorte,
Colorado
3. Provide reclamation cost estimates for the various phases of mine life
Approach:
1. Utilize current mine plan to:
a. Gather material quantities and distances for earth work, including 6 inches of topsoil
b. Estimate pipe lengths for perimeter drain
c. Estimate concrete foundation quatities to be broken up
2. Utilize a reclamation cost-estimating spreadsheet
a. Use tabs to summarize and quantify hours and unit cost rates for heavy construction
equipment, labor, fuel, and materials to be used for the reclamation work
b. Construction equipment ownership and operating costs and labor rates drawn from
industry standard, publically available sources
c. Utilize Caterpillar handbook estimating techniques
