J'- i-V ASSU Yd Ilie
Gra e V Pldtfofm Extemion
' NewFe;,,s° e No -175 0306 019
Octobe< 23 2017
' the compaction method specification. Subgrade preparation adjacent to slopes was performed
by keying in to the slope ensuring the fills were blended and compacted together constructing
' one homogenous fill.
3.2. Borrow Excavation
SSF material for the HGM Platform Extension project was processed for previous construction
projects. The stockpile was verified to meet specifications prior to use for this project. The
material was loaded into 40-ton articulated haul trucks and hauled to the fill areas to be placed.
3.3. Select Structural Fill Placement
All SSF material was hauled from the designated and verified stockpile using 40-ton articulated
haul trucks. The material was moisture conditioned using a tandem-axle water truck and spread
into 12" loose lifts using a motor grader and front-end loader. Each lift was then compacted in
accordance with compaction method specification using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum
' compactor. A total of 5,547 cubic yards of SSF was placed for the HGM Platform Extension
project.
' Three samples were obtained for particle size laboratory testing and 23 moisture content
samples were tested during the SSF placement with passing results. The results are summarized
' in Table 1 and Table 2 respectively.
4. DAILY REPORTS
Daily field observation prepared and submitted to the Project Manager during construction of
the High Grade Mill Platform Extension project are presented in Appendix F.
S. PHOTOGRAPHS
Select photographs taken during construction of the High Grade Mill Platform Extension project
are presented in Appendix G.
' 6. CONCLUSION
Based on a review of the construction documents, the daily observation reports, our
' professional judgment, and the quality assurance testing, it is our opinion that the construction
activities associated with the High Grade Mill Platform Extension were in substantial
conformance with the approved Construction Drawings and Technical Specifications.
Page 4
