\G,ade til,li P ar' . n, . t?nsion
' N'ew!_,e,ds Projec`No _175 J106 019
October 23, 2017
' presented on Drawing 30-647-19. The Technical Specifications and Construction Drawings are
presented in Appendix A and in Appendix B, respectively.
1.4. Record Construction Drawing
The Record Construction Drawings consist of topographic maps of the finished grade surfaces
' and provide sufficient detail to allow for verification of the various project elements including
elevation, grade and location. The Record Construction Drawings prepared by NewFields, as
well as an as-built surface provided by the Foresight West, is presented on Figure 1. Foresight
West's Professional Land Surveyors License is presented in Appendix C.
2. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project site is located at the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mine in Teller County near
Cripple Creek, Colorado. The HGM Platform Extension construction activities included SSF
placement performed in August 2017 to allow for the addition of a Concentrate Load Out
1 Structure to the existing mill facilities.
3. EARTHWORK PROCEDURES, OBSERVATIONS, &TESTING
Testing of the earthwork materials used in the construction associated with the High Grade Mill
Platform Extension was performed in accordance with current American Society for Testing and
' Materials (ASTM) procedures. The requirements for testing frequency and test methods for
earthwork were based on information contained in the project Technical Specifications. The fill
materials were placed using a compaction method specification in lue of nuclear density
testing, due to the material containing more than 30 percent of particles greater than %-inch in
diameter. A compaction method specification was developed on August 4, 2017 in the area
proposed to receive fill by the Contractor. The CQA Monitor observed and approved the
compaction technique. Development of the compaction method specification is presented in
' Appendix D.
Laboratory testing was performed by Earth Engineering Consultants in their geotechnical
' laboratory located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. SSF laboratory test results are summarized in
Table 1 and presented in Appendix E.
' 3.1. Subgrade
The SSF material was placed on previously approved Structural Fill placed during construction
of the Ball Mill Platform and Squaw Gulch VLF Phase 1. The existing subgrade in flat areas was
scarified to a depth of 6 inches, moisture conditioned, and re-compacted in accordance with
Page 3
