continue to save and segregate all soils encountered in disturbed areas. A
discussion of location of stockpiles is included in the subsection of Exhibit D
entitled "Mining Plan."
When it is determined that a stockpile of topsoil will remain in place and
undisturbed for more than a year, the stockpile will be planted with the following
seed mixture:
Species Lbs/Acre (broadcast)
Crested Wheatgrass, Fairway 6
Intermediate Wheatgrass 6
Total Lbs per acre 13
The mixture will be broadcast between September 1 and May 31, (with
preference to fall seeding in September, October and November so the soil
accumulate a reserve of moisture from winter precipitation)when weather and
ground conditions permit. Due to the steeply dipping
beds and the clay quality changes with depth, the mine will mine a large area and
reclamation will be performed at the end of mining. Because of the need to mine
clays simultaneously from the north and south ends of the affected land, several
mining stages will be affected at the same time.
Generally, Stage 2 will be mined along the entire strike length to average
any material differences from different elevations of the mine.
