<br />Dear Ms. Gonzales:
<br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34,
<br />Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 13,
<br />2017, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Bowie
<br />No. 1 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods
<br />as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date
<br />of filing.
<br />The applicant, Bowie Resources, LLC, proposes to continue underground coal mining operations
<br />on land located approximately 3 mile(s) North of Paonia. There are no proposed revisions to the
<br />approved mining and reclamation plan, nor is there any proposed surface disturbance outside of the
<br />currently approved disturbance area. The permit area is further described as follows:
<br />In all or portions of the following:
<br />Sections 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, and 25 Township 13 South, Range 92 West of
<br />the 6th P.M. and
<br />Sections 17, 18, 19, 29, 30, 31, and 32 of Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle
<br />map(s): Gray Reservoir, Bowie.
<br />In Permit Renewal No. 7, Bowie Resources LLC is proposing to renew its permit at the Bowie No.
<br />1 Mine for another five year term. Mining has ceased and reclamation activities are in progress.
<br />No changes are proposed for the existing permit, permit boundary or disturbed area. This renewal
