The mine is permitted with the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety under File No. M <br />2004-013. The most recent SWSP <br />December 31, 2018. As stated in your July 25, 2017 letter, the pond surface areas have been updated <br />through aerial photography and the mining plan has changed; therefore, this request is b <br />revise the previously approved SWSP dated April 25, 2017. Accordingly, this SWSP supersedes the <br />previously approved SWSP dated April 25, 2017. The $257 fee has been accepted with receipt no. <br />3681029. <br /> <br />PLAN OPERATION <br /> <br />The St. Barbara Sand and Gravel Mine is located in Section 1, Township 21 South, Range 63 West of the <br />6th P.M. and Section 6, Township 21 South, Range 62 West of the 6 <br />the St. Barbara Sand and Gravel Mine is projected to continue for approxi <br />at this time it is uncertain whether mining at the site will occur over the approval period, currently <br />there is no activity. Therefore, two scenarios were considered; Scenario A assumes that mining will <br />occur over the approval period and Scenario B assumes that mining will not occur over the approval <br />period. The maximum exposed water surface area in the five ponds located on the property is currently <br />at 5.77 acres (0.81 acres-pond 1, 1.56 acres <br />acres-pond 5). This is the total exposed surface area during all months when mining is not in progress. <br /> <br />Under Scenario A, Pond 5 will be actively mined from March through November and will be dewatered <br />via a dewatering trench. The dewatering trench is 3,800 feet in length with an average width of 5 feet <br />for a total exposed water surface area of 0.44 acres. According to the request, portion(s) of the <br />pond(s) will be backfilled during mining such that the maximum exposed water surface <br />all five ponds and the dewatering trench will not exceed 4.57 acres.
