planted to introduce organic material into the developing topsoil. When virgin areas are mined, all
topsoil will be stripped and either immediately replaced on the previous cuts in reclamation or
will be stored in topsoil stockpiles that will be immediately stabilized with vegetation and will
later be used in reclamation of the site.
Since the plant area cannot be reclaimed until the end of the mine's life, the silty material for this
area will be stockpiled as shown on Map C-2. This area is approximately 10 acres, therefore,
4,000 CY of silt will be stockpiled for final reclamation of the plant area. All fines piles will be
constructed to 2.5H:1 V slopes and will be seeded and mulched if they are to be in place over 180
days.
710,056.6 CY of overburden will be available for use during reclamation from unmined areas.
This material will be generated during regular mining of placer material, with some portion of
the gravel used or sold as secondary product. However, the majority is likely to be used as
backfill. See Map F-1 for the planned final contour.
Roughly 14 acres of the pre-law disturbance that was part of the 110 gravel operation is graded,
topsoiled, and seeded. The spreading of fines will occur at a thickness of 3" over the pre-law
areas. Grading of post-law areas will occur concurrently with mining. Topsoiling and seeding of
future mining post-law areas will occur over 65.5 acres at a depth of 4.5 inches.
At the end of the mining life, the following equipment will be dismantled and hauled off site:
• all fuel tanks
• piping,portable conveyors,pumps, etc.
• camp trailers
• portable plants
• pump house
Internal roads will be left in place throughout the property to be used post reclamation. Electric
power poles will remain for post-mining land use. The smoothing of the final cut lake, the
various ponds, and the processing area will then take place. All remaining disturbed areas will be
Alma Placer Mine
December 2017 E-2
