calculations for the storm water/sediment settling ponds is presented in Exhibit G- Water
Information.
The sediment control system for the mine, including the water handling system from the South
Platte River, is shown on Map C-2. The permit area is divided into two main areas, the area north
of Access#1 that drains into Ponds 3 and 4 and the area south of Access #1 that will drain into
sediment settling ponds E, F and H. Water housed in sediment settling ponds 1-4 will be
recycled into the processing plant near these ponds.
Several hazardous materials will be stored and used on-site throughout the project. These
materials include products that are associated with diesel motors, and products associated with
asphalt and concrete production. No blasting will take place as part of the Alma Placer gold
mining operation.
4. Topsoil and Overburden Handling
The total current, as of October 2017, disturbed area for the gold mining operation is 114.5 acres
with a total mine life disturbance area of 189.2 acres. Of this amount, 90.3 acres were disturbed
pre-1977 and no topsoil was salvaged. Approximately 65.5 acres of new disturbance, as of
October 2017,will occur if all planned mine cuts are disturbed. The table below shows the
combination of pre-law and post-law disturbance.
4.1 Disturbed Permit Areas (October 2017)
Area Acreage
Active Mining Areas 4.0
Berm along Highway 9 2.8
Topsoil Stockpiles 2.8
Site Roads 2.0
Pre-law Area (includes italicized areas above) 90.3
Post-law areas outside of active cuts 15.8
Willit's Ponds and West of Gumaer areas 4.2
Total Disturbed Area 114.5
Alma Placer Mine t.reK 1 rwtrLi aml AwKwir,.PI 1 t
December 2017 D-9
