November 15, 2017 C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 Mine CCW <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br /> <br /> Page 5 of 8 <br /> <br />erosional features observed. <br /> <br />The Paonia Loadout has two sediment ponds located at it, the Loadout Pond (Photo 5) and the Highway Pond. <br />The ponds were dry at the time of the inspection. The embankments to the highway pond were well vegetated and <br />stable. There were no indications of erosion. The embankment for the Loadout Pond is a binwall embankment. <br />The embankment was stable and in good repair. There were no erosional issues noted. <br /> <br />Binwall Ponds 1 through 4 and the ROM Pon d have been backfilled and regraded. For more details on the <br />reclaimed sites, please see the Backfill and Grading section of this report. The new channel constructed in August <br />of 2017 for these ponds was in good repair. Evidence of recent flow s in the channel suggested that the channel <br />was functioning as designed. Hay bales and silt fencing was placed at the end of the reclaimed Binwall Pond 4 in <br />September 2017. The hay bales were staked in the center of the channel and the silt fence continued up the <br />hillsides on both the east and west sides. The BMP was in good condition at the time of the inspection. There were no erosional issues identified. The roads had <br />no evidence of rutting or areas that ponded water. <br /> <br />SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12: <br /> Noted in the spring 2017 inspection reports, there was a minor slide at the East Mine. The slide was <br />located on the reclaimed portals bench. The slide was repaired in August of 2017 and then reseeded in October of <br />2017. The repaired area was observed to be stable.
