Tess Reyes
2805 Farview Drive Fort Collins, CO 80524 1970-294-3284 1 teresital@bajabb.com
November 7, 201.7
Mr. Jared Ebert
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman St. - Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Ebert:
RECEIVED
NOY 0 9 2017
DIVISION OF RECIAMATION
MiNIW MD SAFETY 2l
4o V
1
Greetings to you. My name is Tess. I am writing your good office for the same reason that is
behind the steadily increasing number of concerned citizens in LaPorte who are in strong
opposition of yet another concrete processing facilities in our midst - Fear for Health and
Safety.
Please allow me to bring to your attention that, as we speak, the 6 -square mile community
of LaPorte is rapidly being overtaken by the unbridled heavy -industrial mining and on-site
concrete processing which continue to contribute to the problem of air pollution.
Concerned citizens of LaPorte are well-informed of particulate -related health risks
associated with the presence of heavy -industry in their midst. Particulate pollution
(particularly PM10 & PM 2.5) has been identified in studies conducted by the Harvard
School of Public Health, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International
Agency on Research of Cancer (IARC) - to be a significant cause of lung cancer and other
serious life-threatening diseases.
My spouse is disabled by a medical condition. He has been diagnosed with a heart condition
for which he is currently taking medication(s) and regularly following up with a
cardiologist.
With almost 2 decades of extensive practice as a cardiovascular -surgical I.G.U. nurse with
some organ transplant experience, I believe that concerns for my husband's health and
safety are well- founded in addressing the threat of particulate emission from aggregate
processing facilities that threaten to close -in and inarguably envelope our immediate
environment from within the range of just a few feet to less than a mile at most.
