C-2009-087, operated by Peabody Sage Creek <br />Mining, LLC (PSCM). Miranda Kawcak with PSCM accompanied the the inspection. The weather was clear and <br />all areas of the mine were accessible. Maintenance items are bulleted below. The Sage Creek Mine is currently in <br />Temporary Cessation. <br />AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1): <br /> The mine records were checked at the Foidel Creek Mine office. See the end of the report for details. <br /> Rill and Gully Survey need to be completed for 2017 <br /> Air Emission Permit should be placed in file once received <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> <br />The upper sump, lower sump, pond 2, pond 3, pond 4, and Pecoco pond were observed and holding water. All <br />discharge points are flowing, except NPDES #7, which is at a ditch near the office that was not discharging and <br />Pond 3. Pump #2 was not operating and dewatering. Pond maintenance items are listed below in general mine <br />compliance section. <br /> <br />The broken pipe coming out of the bottom of Pond 2, as noted in the complete inspections in June 2017 and <br />August 2017, was in the process of being repaired. No water was discharging from the pipe at the time of <br />inspection. The area around the pipe was saturated, No sulfur odor was noted. Photo of repairs at time of
