August 4, 1997
Edith Savage
Savage and Savage
464 West Sumac Court
Louisville, CO 80027-2227
Dear Ms. Savage:
Colorado Natural Heritage Program
College of Natural Resoevoea
254 Genera) semec,
Fort Collins. Colorado 80523-1401
(970)491-1309
F,V(:(970) 491-3349
The Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) is in receipt of your request for information
regarding the Weld County project. In response, CNHP has searched its Biological and
Conservation Datasystem (BCD) for natural heritage resources (occurrences of significant
natural communities and rare, threatened or endangered plants and animals) documented from
the immediate area of T3N R64W Sections 25/36.
We currently have no records in our datasystem for your study area. Should there be relict stands
of shortgrass prairie, often characterized by blue grana (Bouteloua gracilis) and buffalo grass
(Buchloe dactyloides), found in your study a.ea ) ou may also find ferruginous hawks (Buten
regalis), black -tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys iudovicionus), and burrowing owls (Athene
cunicularia). These once wide ranging species ate declined due to development 2nd
agricultural conversion and are considered "waicnlisted" in Colorado by CNHP (i.e. t^-acked but
not mapped).
While the information contained herein represents a thorough search of CNHP's Biological and
Conservation Datasystem, any absence of data does not necessarily mean that other natural
heritage resources do not occur on or adjacent to the project site, but rather that our files do not
currently contain information to document their presence. Also, although every attempt is made
tp provide the most current and precise information possible, please be aware that some of our
sources provide a higher level of accuracy than others, and some interpretation may be required.
CNHP's datasystem is constantly updated and revised. Please contact CNHP for an update on
this nattual heritage information if a significant amount of time passes before it is used.
Sincerely,
Kevin Essington
Environmental Review Coordinator
99C
Tim
Nacre
Conservancys
