Box 359
Keensburg, Colorado 80643
Dear Mr. Althouse_
Northeast Region
317 W. Prospect Street
ft. Collins, CO 80526
July 7, 19B6
0 r' + J:
1 have received your questions concerning reclamation measures for wildlife habitat
and raptor perches.
There are a number of species of wildlife that are involved in the area of your mine.
The more common species are deer, antelope, coyote, badger, fox, rabbits, skunks,
several species of small rodents as well as several species of raptors and seasonal
gbirds.
Ine diversity of plants in the reclamation you are doing should mitigate the losses
to wildlife habitat and should also enhance it for some species.
In the unworked area of the mine, about the only raptor perches were and are, the
fence posts. However, the power line has produced some additional perches. These
should be adequate for the raptor hunting. It was noticed while on the area that
rodents are making considerable use of the reseeded area, which is also making
excellent raptor hunting.
Sinc ely,
D n Bog
artt
Environmental Biologist
DB/lj
•
99b
AnTtAt N1 U( NA1UHAL RCSOURCES, Day.d H.
