September 21, 2017 C-1996-083/Bowie No. 2 Mine CCW <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1 <br /> <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> <br />PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br />Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> On August 29, 2017, an aerial inspection of the Bowie No. 2 Mine was conducted. During the inspection <br />it was noted that minor rills were form ing in the uncovered gob material on the face of Gob Pile 2. The rills had <br />formed about midway up the east section of the pile. During this inspection , the section of pile 2 described above <br />had been repaired (Photo 3). The repaired area was stable and no erosional features were identified. A large set of <br />rills were observed to be forming on the southeast corner of Gob Pile 3 during the August 29, 2017 aerial <br />inspection. The rills appeared to have formed from a breach in the ditch located midway up the face of the pile. <br />This sec tion of Gob Pile 3 was visited during this complete inspection. Repairs to the ditch and face of pile 3 had <br />been completed. The area was observed to be stable and in good condition. <br />Work was being conducted on Gob Pile 3 during the inspection (Photo 4). The west drying area has been <br />excavated and is being placed and compacted in lifts according to the final design plan in the mine permit. The <br />area was well maintained and in good condition.
