14 September, 2017 C-1981-028/Keenesburg Strip Mine RAR
DRMS in September measured the elevation of a control point on the south east portion of the
former permit. As the permit boundary has shrunk considerably with Phase III bond releases,
there are no longer control points inside the permit boundary. The DRMS measurement with a
bad elf provided an elevation value of 4752.06 feet above sea level, the known mine measurement
for this control point, #1111, is 4813.92 feet above sea level.
The difference between the measurements will be calculated and compared with submitted
approximate original contour maps facilitating the determination that approved post mining topo
has been constructed.
o Backfilling and grading appears to be proceeding as per approved post mining land use,
achieving approximate original contour.
o At the time of inspection no ponding or overland flow of water was observed in the
proposed Phase I areas.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS
3.03.1(2) Release of Performance Bonds
Due to a forcefull hail storm in August vegetation had suffered over the short term. However, the robust
growth evident in Area 33 during previous inspetions should recover. As the inspection focused on
Phase I release, verification of approximate original contour as per Rule 4.14, Backfill and Grading,
comprised the inspection protocol.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 4
