August 24, 2017 C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 Mine CCW

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0

Binwall Ponds 1 through 4 and the West Ridge Pond at the East Mine had been backfilled and regraded to approximate
original contour (AOC). The ROM Pile Pond was also backfilled and graded to AOC. There are sediment control
measures in place at the bottom of the West Ridge Pond, Binwall Pond #4 and the ROM Pond. The sediment control
measures included sediment logs, hay bales and silt fencing to prevent off site impacts from the newly reclaimed areas.
The inspected reclaimed ponds did not have any indications of instability. There had been a few precipitation events prior
to the inspection. The reclaimed areas had no erosional features, such as rills or gullies, forming on them. The sediment
control features did not have any large amounts of sediment accumulated on them.

Photo 3: The reclaimed Binwall Pond #2. Photo 4: The Reclaimed Binwall Pond #4. There are
straw bales and silt fences placed at the bottom of the
reclaimed pond to help reduce the amount of sediment that
could run off of the site during a precipitation event.

Photo 5 (Left): The reclaimed ROM Pile Pond. The tree
that had grown in the pond will remain in place.
