Greg Lewicid And Associates, PLLC
3375 W. Powers Circle Phone: (720) 842-3321 Fax (303) 346-6934
Littleton, CO 80123 E-mail: info@lewicki.biz
August 21, 2017
Michael Cunningham
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman St, Rm. 215
Denver, CO 80203
Gloria Z Pit M-1984-094, Technical Revision Application
Mr. Cunningham
Golden Cross Aggregates is applying for a technical revision to its DRMS permit at the Gloria Z
Pit. This technical revision consists of.
1) Incorporation of new site roads into the mining and reclamation plan
2) Confirmation of the amount of active pond area available to the operator at any time.
Each of these items is addressed below.
1. Incorporation of new roads
A 12 -foot wide gravel road now connects the Gloria Z Pit to the neighboring JRS Mining
operation to the east. This road has been installed to facilitate trucks hauling material from one
site to the other for processing. Sediment catch basins are installed within the road to prevent
stormwater from leaving the site. The caught stormwater infiltrates into the exposed rock, which
is highly permeable.
A second road runs along the north and northeast portions of the site. This road is used to access
the collection ditches in that area. Since this road is located within the drainage area that flows to
the collection ditches, no additional sediment control is needed.
These roads will remain after mining and reclamation, therefore no additional bond will be
needed to cover them.
2. Active Pond Area
The total active non -sediment pond area is now roughly 1.3 acres. These are the ponds in the
central part of the site, related to the processing of mined material. All of these ponds are located
in the area of main reclamation, and therefore will be backfilled as part of the regrading activity
that will already take place.
The currently approved maximum processing and water handling pond areas covered by the
approved DRMS permit is 1.37 acres. Therefore, no revision is needed on the total pond area at
this time.
Gloria Z Pit 1 (;ft%lxwkkiand nmodatmPUA'
