Considerable run-on has also occurred from the cliffs above (north) or the reclaimed portals. There is evidence
that water has cascaded down the reclaimed portal face and across the portal bench. There has been some down -
cutting of the northern portion of the reclaimed portal bench, but this down-cutting is of limited length and either
fade out or direct into the permanent drainage across the bench and into the permanent channel on the face of the
bench outslope. Run-off flow across the backfilled portal face has not exposed the portals or down cut the backfill
to any noticeable degree.

The inspector observed the bench above the backfilled portals. The run-on flow from the cliffs north of this bench
have not caused excessive down cutting, nor is there any collapse of the sealed portals. Rock fall has blocked this
bench on the west side.

The vegetation on the reclaimed portal bench is in good condition. Vegetative cover appears adequate to reduce
runoff velocity. Rills across the portal bench all appear to initiate from run-on off the surrounding book cliffs.

The portal bench outslope is very steep and tends towards thin vegetative cover. The portal bench is south facing.
Permanent acceptable vegetation has established on the outslope, and is holding up well. This slope appears stable
without noticeable gullying. Run-off from this outslope is directed into the permeant drainage channel.

SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
Detail for channels and runoff on the reclaimed area is discussed in the “roads” section.

SIGNS AND MARKERS – Rule 4.02:
The Division’s sign noting the reclamation project has been knocked down and shot full of holes.

DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
OTHER (SPECIFY)

ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
The permit has been revoked and all bond monies have been spent o reclamation and maintenance
activities.
