Historic Properties Treatment Plan, Colloin Mine, Colorado 28
during auger testing, then the test units will not be excavated. The test excavations will follow
the methods detailed in Section 5.1 below.
4.2.2 Phase II Data Recovery
Based on the results of the Phase I testing, up to an additional 30 m2 of excavation may be
warranted. This data recovery will follow the methods detailed in Section 5.2 below.
4.3 SITE 5MF4003
4.3.1 Phase I Testing
To determine the nature of the buried cultural component, 20 auger tests and five 1 x 1 -m test
units are proposed for the site. The 20 auger tests will be placed into two lines of 10, with 5 -m
spacing between auger tests. The two lines will parallel each other along the west bank of the
site where the majority of the cultural material is eroding and along the east bank in the area of
the lithic concentration. The five 1 x 1 -m test units will be placed where the auger testing
indicates the highest potential for buried cultural deposits. In areas where the auger tests
indicate that deposits are either deeper than 1 m or are horizontally extensive, test units may be
grouped to allow full exposure and evaluation of buried deposits. If no cultural remains are
discovered during auger testing, then the test units will not be excavated. The test excavations
will follow the methods detailed in Section 5.1 below.
4.3.2 Phase II Data Recovery
Based on the results of the Phase I testing, up to an additional 30 m2 of excavation may be
warranted. This data recovery will follow the methods detailed in Section 5.2 below.
47599 TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
