The inspection <br />was conducted by Clayton Wein of the Division of Reclamat ion, Mining and Safety (the Division). The site is <br />inactive; therefore, no company representative was present for the inspection. The weather was partly cloudy with <br />a temperature of 80 degrees farenheight. The ground conditions were mostly dry with some areas with damp or <br />ponded water from recent precipitation. <br />AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1): <br /> The records for the North Thompson Creek Mines are located at the County Courthouse in Glenwood <br />Springs, Colorado. The records are in good condition. Please see the Availability of Records form attached to <br />the end of this report for more details. Please note the Items in Bold on the form. <br /> <br />FISH and WILDLIFE – Rule 4.18: <br /> During the inspection, livestock was spotted on th e hill to the west of the Long Pond. <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monito ring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> During the inspection the Long Pond was impounding water (Photo 1). The discharge rate from the pipes <br />into the pond could not be observed at a close distance due to livestock. The embankments to the pond were well <br />vegetated and stable. There were no indications of erosion or seepage. The water in the Long Pond was <br />discharging through the discharge pipe to the T -1 Pond. <br /> <br />The T-1 Pond was full and discharging out of the primary spillway to the T -2 Pond. The Embankments of both <br />ponds were stable with no indications of erosion. The embankments of the ponds were well vegetated. The T -2 <br />Pond was full during the inspection and discharging to the P9 Pond. The open ditch between the T -2 and P9 ponds <br />was clear of debris and functioning as designed.
