Also, drill <br />holes and access roads located in the SW1041, Sec. 22 (D.H. 67-22-1), <br />the SWk Sec. 22 (D.H. 07-22-,), and the SE�SEk Sec. 28 (D.H. 07-28-1) of <br />T.7S, RION., 6th P.M. were inspected. Blocks of land were inspected in <br />the N4 Sec. 9, and the SW'k'Sec. 27, T. 7S., R.102 W., 6th P.M. The <br />areas surveyed are marked on the attached copies of 7.5 min. maps in red. <br />The proposed sites range in elevation from 5600' to 7200'. They gen- <br />erally fall within the upper Sonoran and Transitional ecozones. The valley <br />bottom contains a predominance of greasewood, sage, and rabbitbrush; the <br />slopes below 6500' have pinyon pine, juniper, black sage, and rabbitbrush; <br />and the higher slopes contain oakbrush and mountain mahogeny. The geology <br />Is the Mount Garfield Formation. The valley bottom is made up of alluvial <br />deposits. The surface visibility at the time of the surveys was over <br />fifty per cent. <br />INVENTORY METHODOLOGY <br />The objective of the investigation was a one hundred per cent coverage <br />of the area to be disturbed by the construction of the proposed new roads, <br />exploratory drilling, and land tracts. This was accomplished by: <br />1. The proposed access roads were walked in transects spaced at <br />. 5 meter intervals covering a minimum of a 50' right-of-way. <br />2. The drill holes were inspected in a spiraling transect from <br />the flagged center point to a radius point some 35 meters <br />distant thus covering a minimum area of 150' in diameter. <br />In certain cases the brush mould not allow an exact spiral, <br />however, all the exposed surface ground was inspected for <br />the 25 meter radius. <br />3. The tracts of land were walked in transects spaced at 25 <br />. meter intervals when the ground was flat. Transects were <br />—walked along the benches of the contours when the steep <br />
