H <br />This inventory of cultural resources is submitted in compliance <br />with the stipulations of the ! itional Environmental Policy Act of 1969, <br />Executive Order 11593, and Section 106 of the National Historical Pre- <br />servation Act. It was prepared at the request of the Grand Junction <br />district Office, Bureau of Land Management, Department of the Interior, <br />Grand Junction, Colorado. This cultural resources inventory was conducted <br />In connection with a request by Sheridan Enterprizes Inc. of Denver, <br />Colorado, to the Bureau of Land Management for a special use permit for <br />land use in connection with an oil pipeline.operation. <br />Sheridan Enterprizes contacted Mr. Conner in August of 1977 to sur- <br />vey proposed access roads and exploratory drilling operations and certain <br />blocks of land which will be used in coal mining activities. <br />Verbal notification of intent to investigate the area was provided <br />to the Grand Junction District Office, Bureau of Land Management, on <br />August -26, 1977, and the pedestrian surveys were conducted by John Lind- <br />strom and Phil Born on August 28th, September 3rd and September 10th of <br />road building and exploritory drilling operations. A pedestrian survey <br />was also completed by Carl Conner on September 23rd and 25th of blocks <br />of land which will be involved in the coal mining activities. <br />DESCRIPTION OF THE STUDY AREA <br />The drill holes and access roads are located in the Eh Sec. 9 <br />r ` <br />(D.H. 47-9-5),the NIAI*1; Sec. 10, the W''-5 Sec. 3 (D.H. Os 7-3-5 and 7-3-2), <br />the NEl, Sec. 3 (D.H. Qs 7-3-3 and 7-3-4), the SES Sec.V4 (D.H. Ps 7-4-3 <br />V <br />and 7-4-4), the SWC Sec. 4 (D.H. #7-4-5). <br />
