2.04.9 Soils Resource Information <br />grained structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; <br />calcareous; 60 to 70 percent gravels, some boulders and stones on the <br />surface; many fine and medium roots, few coarse roots; pH 7.5; diffuse <br />boundary. <br />C1 3 to 8 inches; yellowish brown (10 YR 5/4) moist; very gravelly and cobbly fine <br />sandy clay loam; moderate fine granular parting to fine single grained structure; <br />very friable, slightly sticky and plastic; calcareous; 40 to 60 percent gravels, 10 <br />percent cobbles; many fine and medium roots, very few coarse roots; pH 7.6; <br />abrupt irregular boundary. <br />R 8+ inches; hard sandstone. <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Torriorthents is a pale brown or yellowish <br />brown loam to very gravelly loam about 7 inches thick. The substratum to depths <br />ranging from less than 20 to more than 60 inches is a gravelly fine sandy loam or <br />gravelly fine sandy clay loam. <br />Permeability of the Torriorthents is moderate to moderately rapid. Available water <br />capacity is moderate. Effective rooting depth is the depth to bedrock. Runoff is <br />moderate to moderately high and the erosion hazard for water is high. Wind erosion <br />hazard is moderate to severe. <br />The unit is mainly used for wildlife habitat. It is also used for range for mule deer. <br />The present plant community is mainly juniper, greasewood, big sage, and mixed <br />grasses, including salina wild rye. <br />PR -02 2.04-45 10/12 <br />
