In TRIM
COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT, Water Quality Control Division
Fact Sheet- Page 2, Permit No. C00000906
Table II -1. Outfall information
The locations provided above will serve as the points of compliance for this permit. They are appropriate as they
are located after treatment (where applied) and prior to entering the receiving stream.
III. SUMMARY OF MAJOR CHANGES FROM LAST RENEWAL
A. General Changes
• Domestic waste is no longer treated at pond 006, and instead, is now transported offsite. Therefore, outfall
033A (domestic sewage, internal outfall) and associated groundwater monitoring wells 050A, B, C Et D are not
included in this permit renewal.
• Outfall 009 was included in the previous permit; however, the pond and associated outfall were not
constructed during the previous permit term and are not planned for construction during this permit term.
Therefore, outfall 009 is not included in this permit renewal.
• Process water from the coal preparation plant is no longer routed to pond 006 and is now hauled offsite.
• Tiered flow rates no longer apply to outfall 001 (formerly 001 A, 001B, 001C representing three flow tiers). The
30 -day average flow of outfall 001 is not to exceed 1.08 MGD.
• New permit limitations and compliance schedules with interim limitations are applicable to outfall 001 for
dissolved cadmium, dissolved copper, total mercury, dissolved selenium, and boron.
• New reporting requirements applicable to outfall 001 for total recoverable chromium, dissolved manganese,
dissolved zinc, chloride, sulfide and temperature.
• Iron limitations are more stringent at outfall 001. A compliance schedule is included for outfall 001.
• New EC/SAR limitations and associated reporting for calcium, magnesium, sodium, and bicarbonate are
applicable to outfall 001. A compliance schedule is included.
Feature
!Fl wn
Receiving
Applicable
Outfall
Name
Latitude N
Longitude W
Wastewater Source
Water
MGD
Subpart
Middle Fork
001
Pond 001
37.15705°
104.967783°
Mine water
1.08
Purgatoire
D
River
Surface runoff from reclaimed
Middle Fork
004
Pond 004
37.1565°
104.97263°
refuse pile (Phase I bond released)
NA
Purgatoire
H
River
Surface runoff from coal stock
piles, coal prep plant, internal
Middle Fork
007
Pond 007
37.159116°
104.95698°
haul roads, equipment laydown
NA
Purgatoire
B
area, top soil, and development
River
waste piles
Surface runoff from coal prepMiddle
Fork
008
Pond 008
37.16038°
104.96246°
plant refuse disposal area
NA
Purgatoire
B
River
Surface runoff from east small
Middle Fork
010
Stormwater
37.159098°
104.956875°
area exemption (SAE) area
NA
Purgatoire
D
(staging/ material storage area)
River
011
Stormwater
37.15896°
104.963606°
Surface runoff from north topsoil
NA
Middle Fork
Purgatoire
H
SAE
River
Surface runoff from west
Middle Fork
012
Stormwater
37.157327°
104.968446°
reclaimed SAE (Phase I bond
NA
Purgatoire
H
released)
River
The locations provided above will serve as the points of compliance for this permit.
