21. The Exhibit E Mining Plan Map Detail 1 map depicts areas where excavations, topsoil, and
overburden will be located. The Planned Disturbance list on this map shows each dig area will be 875
square feet and each associated spoil area will be 650 square feet. Please clarify how the proposed
spoil areas will be smaller than the size of the dig area. In addition, please provide the maximum area
of the topsoil stockpile areas.
Response: The locations shown of the proposed dig, topsoil, overburden, and growth medium stockpiles
on the Exhibit E—Mining Plan Map,Detail 1 are approximate.Their more specific sizes and
locations and depth(depth now stated to be 20 feet)will be subject to the mineral direction of
trend.
The topsoil stockpiles and the growth medium stockpiles depicted have each been revised on
the Exhibit E—Mining Plan Map, Detail 1 to reflect scaled stockpiles. They represent a 5 inch
depth of material in a 25 x 35 feet area(14 cubic yards). Factoring is a 45 degree slope as the
angle of repose for the stockpiles, this results in 20 feet diameter by 5 feet in height stockpiles.
The topsoil piles are now depicted as 20 square. The growth medium piles are now depicted as
20 feet in diameter.
The overburden stockpile depicted have been revised on the Exhibit E—Mining Plan Map,
Detail 1 to reflect scaled stockpiles. They represent a 5 feet 2 inch depth trench at a 1;1 slope
(this holds to the 6 feet depth originally stated at 6.3.4(2),now removed and replaced with a
statement of not to exceed 2000 cubic yards). This overburden stockpile footprint is calculated
to be approximately the same size as the 25 x 35 feet dig area. The average thickness of
replaced overburden is still shown in note 2 on Exhibit E—Reclamation Plan as being 6 feet.
The area table on Exhibit E—Mining Plan Map, Detail 1 has been revised to show updated
area calculations and also now includes the permit area road, topsoil and growth medium
stockpiles.
