6.3.3 (1) (f) The disturbances to the land surface by the pit excavations as well as lands in the <br /> reclamation process will not exceed five (5)Acres at any one time.The total <br /> mining disturbance over the life of the operation will not exceed 9.9 acres. <br /> Safety fencing will be erected around open excavations that surpass 3 feet in <br /> depth.The number of dig sites will not exceed six(6) at any one time. Excavation <br /> will not exceed 20 feet.The excavations sizes and locations will be subject to the <br /> mineral direction of trend and depth.These excavation/stockpiles total volume <br /> will not exceed the total volume of cubic yards shown on Exhibit D, 6.3.4(2). <br /> Sloping of excavated area will be in compliance with U.S. Dept. of Labor, OHSA <br /> Section V: Construction Operations, Chapter 2. Excavations: Hazard Recognition <br /> in Trenching and Shoring, with regard to sloping excavated areas. <br /> Including specifically: <br /> IV. Determination of Soil Type <br /> V. Test Equipment and Methods for Evaluating Soil Type. (A pocket <br /> penetrometer will also be used to measure the compressive strength of <br /> the soil.) <br /> Vill. Sloping and Benching. <br /> IX. Spoil <br /> 6.3.3 (1) (g) There is an existing 4-wheel drive road (Forest Service Road 273) which is <br /> approximately 10-12 feet in width.This road crosses the operation site and will <br /> be used as access to the mining operations. No new or improved roads will be <br /> made. <br /> 6.3.3 (1) (h) The operation will be a dry excavation. No water will be used during the mining <br /> operation. <br /> 6.3.3 (1) (i) No groundwater or surface water will be disturbed during the mining operation. <br /> If encountered, DRMS will be consulted. <br /> 6.3.3 (1) (j) N/A <br /> 6.3.3 (1) (k) No acid or toxic producing materials are expected to be found.
