Each section of the preliminary adequacy review is listed below.
Items 3.1 and 3.2,p. 1
• These items do not need changed because this is the total acreage of the proposed pit area with
the partial release request that will be sent to you.
6.4.1 Exhibit A—Legal Description
• Mine entrance location: The mine entrance location has moved to better accommodate the
location of future mining and because of a partial release request of the former permit entrance
location that will be sent to you. The former entrance location is removed from the permit
boundaries. Therefore, nothing has been changed on Exhibit A for mine entrance location.
6.4.3 Exhibit C—Pre-mining and Mining Plan Map(s)of Affected Lands
• Haul road not included: The"existing roadway" is not included within the proposed permit area
as submitted because we feel that it was no longer needed and therefore a release request for that
minimal acreage is being submitted. The roadway was removed from the permit area and
therefore no changes to maps submitted with application.
6.4.4 Exhibit D—Mining Plan
• Underlying stratum: Based on the soil types in this pit location, the soils are Haverson loam,
Satanta loam and Sampson loam, and are underlain by sand and gravel. The substratum can be
a depth of 60-78 inches or more in these soil types. So at a minimum, this depth will be the
thickness of plant growth medium to be replaced. The layers consist mostly of gravel that are not
too sandy, but not too rocky to apply directly to county road surfaces.
Rod Pelton, Commissioner Chairman Nancy Bogenhagen, Commissioner Patrick J.
