Aggregate Industries Morrison Quarry GEI Consultants, Inc.
Geotechnical Addendum, 2016 Annual Report 2 January 2017
The Central Quarry was mined to an approximate bottom elevation of 6330 above MSL
utilizing highwalls and benches at a nominal 1:1 (H:V) or steeper slope. In 2016, reclamation
was effectively completed within the Central Quarry when the southwest corner was
backfilled even with the surrounding elevation (El. 6500). At the location shown in Fig. 3, AI
has continued to stockpile material stripped from mining activities within the Central Quarry
in addition to jade air fines created during aggregate production in stockpiles above El. 6500
(Fig. 3). AI plans to utilize this material in future reclamation slopes within the South Quarry.
In the South Quarry, mining activity continued in 2016. Mining continued between
approximate El. 6600 and 7360 above MSL. The mining, utilizing highwalls and benches,
primarily occurred on the western (east facing) portions of the South Quarry. Additional
2016 activities within the South Quarry included reclamation, construction and maintenance
of haul roads, and overburden stripping.
