The intent of this letter is to provide the requested information regarding the Landfill's <br /> permitting. <br /> Gravel Pit#2 is located within Colorado Springs Utilities' CSR (formerly known as Hanna Ranch). CSR is <br /> a 4,759-acre property located at the intersection of Interstate 25 and Ray Nixon Road/Exit 125, —17 miles <br /> south of Colorado Springs, in El Paso County. CSR was acquired by the City of Colorado Springs on behalf <br /> of its enterprise, Colorado Springs Utilities, in 1972 as land on which to develop electric power generation, <br /> water treatment, wastewater treatment facilities, solid waste disposal sites, and related activities. Gravel <br /> Pit#2 resides in the northeastern portion of CSR. <br /> Gravel Pit #2 received approval for mineral extraction from the El Paso County Planning Commission/ <br /> Board of Commissioners in 19923 and from the State of Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology in 1993 <br /> (Permit#M-1992-074)4.
