The weather was clear and the ground dry at the time of the inspection. The inspection was accompanied <br />by Scott Wanstedt of BME. The longwall continues in panel LW-B14 near County Road 65 and no coal trains <br />were being loaded at the time of the inspection. Currently, MR-171 and TR-71 are under review by the Division. <br /> <br />Prior to this inspection, on Sunday June 11th, 2017, a wildfire which came to be named the Dead Dog Fire was <br />statred north of the town of Rangely. This fire burned a total of 17, 731 acres which included large portions of <br />land within the Deserado permit boundary. At the time of the inspection a total of approximately 5,000 acres had <br />burned. No facilities were affected with the only mine related objects burned being the overland nitrogen injection <br />HDPE pipe in sporadic areas above panel 14. The mine was closed and evacuated on Monday June 13th, 2017 <br />and reopened on Tuesday June 14th, 2017. <br />AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1): <br /> <br />All records were located in the Deserado Mine office of Scott Wanstedt. Please see the Availability of Records <br />accompanying this report. <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, <br />4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water <br />Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; <br />Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> <br />The DP-1 Pond was impounding water with no discharge noted. The pond embankments were stable and well <br />vegetated. The emergency and primary spillways were in compliance with no problems noted at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />Pond PP-1 is a concrete pond that was holding water and stable at the time of the inspection. <br />Pond PP-2 contained water with no discharge noted. Embankments were stable and well vegetated with no <br />problems noted. A heavy amount of algae is noted in the pond with no noticeable effects observed. <br />The fresh water lagoon contained water and was stable with no problems noted at the time of the inspection.
