The inspection was conducted <br />by Clayton Wein of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safe ty (the Division). No company r epresentative <br />was present for the inspection. The temperature was 45 degrees farenheight with light rain. The ground was wet. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stre am Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> The sediment pond at the Paonia Loadout (Photo 1) was dry during the inspection. The embankment was <br />stable with no indications of erosion. The spillway was free of debris and capable of functioning as designed. <br /> <br />Both of the ponds at the West Mine were dry during the inspection. The embankments were we ll vegetated and <br />there were no indications of erosion. The reclamation at the west mine has returned the f acilities and portal area to <br />approximate original contour. Vegetation established on the reclaimed areas is maturing well (Photo 2). There <br />was no erosion identified or other indications of instability. <br /> <br />The West Pond, Bin Wall pond 1 and Bin Wall Pond 2 were inspected at the East Mine. The West Pond was dry. <br />The embankments were well vegetated and stable (Photo 3). There were no indications of erosion. Bin Wall <br />Ponds 1 (Photo 4) and 2 were also dry during the inspection. The embankments of the ponds were stable and in <br />good repair. There were no erosional issues noted.
