Technical Revision 25, Rev. 1 Schwartzwalder Mine
A review of Figure 1-1 indicates that 2 of the 3 RML license areas have been released (#1 and
#3). RML #2 remains active; however, it will be decommissioned as part of TR-23 activities.
During the preparation of an amendment to RML 369-06, Cotter and the Colorado Department
of Public Health and Environment ("CDPHE") agreed that materials in RML #2 that exceeded
the approved screening criteria will be placed in the Minnesota Adit instead of on the waste rock
piles. Because of the concurrent preparation of TR-23 and the aforementioned RML
amendment, Cotter inadvertently omitted the RML #2 materials from the TR-23 inventory list.
Therefore, TR-25 corrects this omission and provides additional information regarding the
manner in which Cotter will decommission RML #2 pursuant to RML 369-06.
1.2 SUMMARY OF AMENDMENT TO TR-24
TR-24 described Cotter's plans to construct the NWTP in an area known as the mesa, which is
near the Steve Adit of the mine. Figure 1-2 shows a plan of the NWTP. TR-24 was approved
before some new equipment was added to the NWTP including two, 20,000-gallon treated water
storage tanks (treated water tanks), one, 7,000-gallon reactor tank, and one, 4,300-gallon clean
water tank. These tanks serve various functions in Cotter's water treatment process, as described
in Section 3.0. Because the NWTP is an Environmental Protection Facility, TR-25 provides the
additional information regarding these tanks, as required in Rule 6.4.21(7).
Mine Permit M-1977-300
Cotter Corporation(N.S.L.) 2 June 2017
