On May 10, 2017, CC&V received the Adequacy Review comment letter
from the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(DRMS).
General Comments.
A. The submittal included a six page cover letter with no page numbers. This makes referencing
specific text more challenging and less specific. Please number pages (the cover page may be
excluded) in fitture submittals.
CC&V Response: Page numbers have been added to the response.
B. The Division's primary concerns with TR-90 as proposed are related to materials handling, spill
prevention, and controlling mercury (Hg) exposure to personnel and the environment. During the
May 1, 2017 meeting, the Division expressed these concerns. Research by the Division identified
a 1997 draft document written by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) entitled
"Controlling Mercury Hazards in Gold Mining: A Best many more) and how to best mitigate
these hazards. Comments below reference this document.
C. Spill cleanup and disposal were discussed during the May 1, 2017 meeting. The Division
indicated at the time that spills need to be cleaned zip using powders designed to form an
amalgam and not methods typically used for other "liquid"spill cleanups. Please formalize your
spill cleanup plan and describe what kit materials will be kept on hand in the AGADR.
1
