NORWEST HRR SAMPLING
MAY 19,2017
COR PORAT ION
compliance monitoring. Three of the wells/piezometers will monitor groundwater conditions in the
proposed mining area. The sixth well will monitor groundwater conditions in the sedimentary rock east of
the fault.
The proposed monitoring wells will be constructed in accordance with the RULES AND REGULATIONS
FOR WATER WELL CONSTRUCTION, PUMP INSTALLATION, CISTERN INSTALLATION, AND
MONITORING AND OBSERVATION HOLE/WELL CONSTRUCTION 2 CCR 402-2 (Well
Construction Rules).Five(5)of the six(6)wells will be completed with a Continuous Multichannel Tubing
(CMT) Multilevel System, which allows monitoring at multiple depths with a single casing string.
Information on the CMT System are included in Figures 2 and 3. The last borehole is too deep for the CMT
System and will be completed with permanently installed vibrating-wire piezometers (VWPs). The
proposed monitoring well/piezometer construction will include three completion zones designed to monitor
groundwater conditions at shallow, intermediate, and deep zones. The shallow zone will be close to the top
of the groundwater saturated zone(probably coincident with adjacent Turkey Creek level),the intermediate
zone will be approximately 50 ft below groundwater table, and the deep zone will be approximately 100 ft
below groundwater table. Groundwater samples will be collected quarterly from the middle completion
zone of Compliance Well #1 (LTC-GW-1) and #2 (LTC-GW-2). The samples will be analyzed for the
parameter list summarized in Table 2. All other wells and zones will be sampled as needed for the
parameters needed to assess the groundwater conditions. Water level measurements will be collected
monthly from each completion zone using a water level meter. Data from the V WPs will also be collected
monthly.
