3. Describe the estimated topsoil depth and how topsoil will be salvaged, stockpiled and
redistributed for the re-establishment of vegetation. Specify approximate topsoil
redistribution depth:
topsoil (to depth of 6-8 inches)along edge of the roadway to be expanded will be dozed into piles at the
end of each switchback and the toe of each pile will be silt-fenced. Drainage from the roadway side-ditch
will be directed away from the piles.
Pine saplings if any will be saved and planted into topsoil piles on a tem op_ra[y basis for use in event of
roadway not being needed for future well maintenance.
Dewatering boreholes are planned to remain in perpetuity to extract groundwater to prevent intrusion
into mine workings so road is not planned to he r _ .laimed. If wells are not converted to perpetual
pumping then topsoil will be re-distributed to depth of 6-8 inches, zone 5 seed mix will be placed, and
distrirhPd areas rP-planted with saved pine saplings to the Pxtent present at start of t mgram
4. Describe how drill holes will be plugged (refer to Rule S.4 of the Rules for required
abandonment procedures):
Dewatering holes are planned for perpetual dewatering of London Mine workings so
plan is not successful, then each borehole will be filled with sodium bentonite-type gel
o the top ot the aqul er (3bO teet below top ot casing and then from at the Be-en
shale contact filled by neat cement grout to ground surface.
S. Describe how portals, adits, shafts, ponds, excavations, or other disturbances will be
reclaimed (refer to Rule 3 and Rule S for specific reclamation performance standards).
You may wish to contact the Division for closure specifications.
Ophir Tunnel Portal will be reinforced with a 5 or 6 foot diameter steel culvert and
elesed with a steel deeF welded te the eulvert with an inteffial padleek net aeeessible te
casual observer. Surrounding ground will be graded around the culvert to prevent
access to the tunnel.
Drill pads will be reclaimed by ripping; replacement of topsoil and reseeding.
Replacement of pine saplings to density prior to disturbance.
Form 2—Public File Page 9 of 14
