Actions taken to respond to and correct the emergency situation or condition
• Once the dumped material was identified an investigation was immediately
commenced. The inspection of the Large Truck Shop area was completed with no
additional material sighted.
• Samples were taken of the material.
• A Cat 993K loader recovered the dumped material using an 'over-excavation'
approach. Depth of recovery was approximately 40-48 inches and extending about 5
feet around the boundary of the material.
• The excavated soil was transported by a Cat 777G to the Squaw Gulch Valley Leach
Facility (VLF) and placed on the bench elevation on liner to ensure no loss during
transportation. Both pieces of equipment used for recovery operations were
inspected for tailings before reuse.
• The area was again inspected for any sign of tailings and samples were taken of the
soil for verification of full recovery.
b. Any known or adverse impacts to human health, property or the environment
