Moffat County Weed and Pest Management <br /> Program Overview <br /> Revision Date:03/14/2017 <br /> Introduction <br /> This document is meant to provide clarification of the protocols and processes utilized by Moffat County Weed and Pest <br /> Management.This document is meant to be updated and revised annually to reflect any potential programmatic <br /> changes due to budget modification, new initiatives,grant offerings,etc.This document also serves to support the <br /> requirements established in the Moffat County Noxious Weed Management Plan. <br /> General Department Outreach <br /> Moffat County will provide the following communication and outreach efforts to ensure the public at large is aware of <br /> the program offerings provided by the department for this year: <br /> 1. Program Overview Document—this document will be updated annually to reflect the intent of the department <br /> for the coming pest management season. In general,all updates will be completed prior to the close of the 1st <br /> quarter of each year,and prior to any deadlines for applications to receive services.This document will be made <br /> available to the public on the Moffat County Weed and Pest Management Website. <br /> 2. Program Open House—the Moffat County Weed and Pest Department will offer an Open House where elected <br /> officials and members of the public may attend and receive an overview of the services that will be offered for <br /> the year.Tentatively,this Open House will take place prior to any deadlines for applications to receive services. <br /> If this event is well attended and deemed beneficial to the public(event feedback surveys will be requested),the <br /> intent is to provide this open house annually. <br /> 3. Moffat County Pest Management Workshop—Moffat County Weed and Pest, in collaboration with CSU <br /> Extension and NRCS will host a workshop where private, public and commercial pesticide applicators can receive <br /> Continuing Education Credits(CECs)for the renewal of their licenses.Tentatively,this workshop is scheduled <br /> from May 15th. If this event is well attended and deemed beneficial to the public,the intent is to offer this <br /> workshop annually. <br /> Mosquito Abatement Programs <br /> (PENDING) <br /> Noxious Weed Abatement Programs <br /> Moffat County's Noxious Weed Abatement Programs are implemented, in conjunction with the Moffat County Noxious <br /> Weed Management Plan(2017)and the various requirements set forward by the Colorado Department of Agriculture. <br /> The primary program components include: <br /> 1. Noxious Weed Identification,Education and Incentive Programs <br /> a. General Weed Education <br /> To support general weed identification and education, Moffat County will strive to provide general <br /> educational resources to the community,free of charge through various venues. <br /> Moffat County/CSU Extension Office-Various handouts and take-home materials are available at all <br /> times at the Moffat County/CSU Extension Office, including but not limited to Moffat County State <br /> 1 <br />
