Figure 2.2 — Retort Vessel Loading <br />One cooling port is provided at the front face of the retort, which allows air to enter the <br />inside of the vessel during the cooling cycle, if desired. The cooling port includes a <br />normally closed solenoid valve which is opened during the cooling cycle, a gate valve (air <br />bleed valve) to set the flow of air and a back check valve to prevent vapours from leaving <br />the retort in the event of an unlikely pressurization of the retort. <br />Figure 2.3 — Retort Cooling Port <br />15
