PERMIT #: M-1979-089
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: March 15, 2017
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection of the 23 Road Pit, DRMS File No. M-1979-089 operated by Grand
Junction Pip and Supply Co. This site is located west of Grand Junction, Colorado in Mesa County. I, Stephanie
Mitchell of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety conducted the inspection. Mr. Jon
Mueller of Grand Junction Pipe and Supply accompanied me on the inspection.
This is a 82 acre 112c operation. The site is mined out and is mainly used for a storage area. The post mining
land use is Industrial/Commercial. The perimeter of the pit is outlined by a berm. A new fence was built along
the Riverfront trail on the southern permit boundary.
Noxious weeds appeared to be under control and visibly dead. There were some Tamarisk present, but not to
be considered a problem.
At the Inspection, Ron Tipping was at the site and notified the Operator he installed a piped irrigation line that
was buried on the western end of the permit area. The Division requests that a new map be submitted with
the location of the irrigation line via a Technical Revision to the Mine Plan. This is noted as a problem at the
beginning of the inspection report.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone no. 970-242-5025.
