Topsoil
is thin and thereby precluding salvaging. Affected mine lands will be graded to blend with the
adjacent topography, planted with trees or seeded. Prior to and while reclaiming the affected are-
as,the Operator will utilize Best Management Practices(BMPs)to minimize or prevent offsite
erosional impacts.
Rule 6.4.5
6.4.5(1)Introduction
The May Day Idaho Mine Complex reclamation will reclaim the affected mine area to a recreational post-
mining land use. This reclamation plan addresses closure details including facilities removal, final grad-
ing(including drainage),topsoil,mulch,and revegetation(seed,trees,and shrubs transplant). Reclama-
tion activities are designed to mitigate surface water erosional off-site impacts, and to establish a stable
configuration and diverse revegetation plan consistent with the proposed future recreational land use.
6.4.5(2) General Requirements
The proposed reclamation activities will be performed to support a post-mining recreational land use.
6.4.5(2)(a)Types of Reclamation
The Operator will reclaim affected lands to approximate pre-mining condition. Pre-1950-mining struc-
tures and roads will remain(See Exhibit D).
May Day Idaho Mine Complex reclamation grading(Section 6.4.5(2)(f)(i); growth media preparation
(Section 6.4.5(2)(f)(iii)and(v)), and revegetation(Section 6.4.5(2)(d))methods are discussed in the fol-
lowing sections. The affected lands are predominately located on a single mapped soil unit, with slopes
ranging from 5 to 40 percent grades with topsoil cover depths less than 6 inches(Exhibit I-Soils).
May Day Idaho Mine Complex—112d Permit Application
3926 North State Highway 67,Sedalia,CO 80135
Phone:(303)832-7664 1 Fax: (303)832-7469
Revised March 10,2017
Exhibit E—Rule 6.4.5
