Hokestra SWSP Page 7 of 11
March 20, 2017

on the Gould Farm varied with field configurations and were generally 1,500 feet or less. The
analysis assumed that the parcel received a pro-rata share of the headgate deliveries; the historical
study period was 1950 through 1986. The ditch loss was assumed to be 12 percent for this parcel.
The historic consumptive use of the 2 shares was determined to be 65.2 acre-feet. The pro-rata
historic consumptive use for 1 share is 32.6 acre-feet.
The Villa Property – The Villa Property was historically irrigated using 1.5 shares of the Rural
Ditch owned by Weld County. The 1.5 shares were historically used to irrigate 28.8 acres of corn,
11.6 acres of sugar beets and 20.7 acres of pasture grass, all of which has been taken out of
production. The Villa Farm was separated by the Rural Ditch. Water was delivered from the south
to the north. Water was applied to the field south of the Rural Ditch. Aerial photos during the
study period shows evidence that cultivated fields were irrigated using mainly furrows, while the
alfalfa field was flood irrigated during early parts of the study period and border/furrow irrigated in
later years. Furrow lengths were approximately 1,300 feet or less. The analysis assumed that the
parcel received a pro-rata share of the headgate deliveries; the historical study period was 1950
through 1996. The ditch loss was assumed to be 12 percent for this parcel. The historic
consumptive use of the 1.5 shares was determined to be 74.6 acre-feet.
Slovek Property – The Slovek Property was historically irrigated using 1 share of the Rural
Ditch of which Weld County owns 0.25 shares. The 1 share was historically used to irrigate 5.9
acres of corn, 12.11 acres of pasture grass, 6.6 acres of alfalfa, 6.6 acres of spring grain, and 5.5
acres of sugar beets, all of which has been taken out of production. Crops were flood and furrow
irrigated fields. Furrow lengths on the Slovek Farm were generally 900 feet or less. The analysis
assumed that the parcel received a pro-rata share of the headgate deliveries; the historical study
period was 1950 through 1986. The ditch loss was assumed to be 12 percent for this parcel. The
historic consumptive use of the 1 share was determined to be 50.8 acre-feet. The pro-rata historic
consumptive use for 0.25 shares is 12.7 acre-feet.

The monthly and annual farm headgate diversions shall be limited to the “Average Farm
Headgate” delivery shown in Table 3, below.

Table 3: Summary of Consumptive Use Analysis (acre-feet)

Month Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Total
Farm Headgate
Delivery 0 0 0 1.8 45.2 78.6 117.2 75.3 30.5 6.9 0 0 355.4
On Farm Depletion
of Surface Water
0 0 0 1.2 17.7 38.5 63.2 43.7 16.2 3.1 0 0 183.6
Surface Return
Flows 0 0 0 0.4 11.6 18.2 23.9 13.7 6.3 1.6 0 0 75.8
Ground Water
Return Flow 0 0 0 0.5 14.7 22.9 30.3 17.8 8.0 2.0 0 0 96.1
Lagged Ground
Water Return Flows
8.4 7.6 7.8 7.3 7.3 7.1 7.6 8.2 8.5 9.0 8.7 8.7 96.1
Total Return Flows
8.4 7.6 7.8 7.7 18.9 25.3 31.5 21.9 14.8 10.6 8.7 8.7 171.9
Average Net
Depletion -8.4 -7.6 -7.8 -5.9 26.3 53.3 85.7 53.4 15.7 -3.7 -8.7 -8.7 183.6
Return Flow Factor 2.4% 2.1% 2.2% 2.1% 42% 32% 27% 29% 49% 2.5% 2.4% 2.4% NA
