New Horizon Mine
E. WILDLIFE MONITORING
No wildlife monitoring occurred in 2016.
F. INTERIM REVEGETATION REPORT
The 2016 Interim Revegetation Report can be found in Attachment 5.
G. WEED MANAGEMENT
During 2016, approximately 173 acres were treated for noxious weeds by spot spraying.
Map 5 shows the general areas that were treated; however, some sites were small and
random and thus too small to accurately depict on a map. Included in Attachment 6 are
the types and mixture of herbicides used, and the date of treatment. All herbicides were
applied following manufacturing label recommendations and by a licensed vegetation
management professional.
Target species for noxious weeds included Knapweed(s), Thistle(s), White Top, Russian -
olive, saltceder/tamarisk, burdock, mullein, halogeton, and Western whorled milkweed.
Other target species are included in the Montrose County (2010) and San Miguel County
(2002) Noxious Weed lists.
H. PEST MANAGMENT
In May and September of 2016, the New Horizon Mine conducted Prairie Dog mitigation
on approximately 193 acres. The licensed exterminators employed carbon monoxide
treatments to active holes. Map 5 shows general areas of treatment.
2016 Annual Reclamation Report Page 4
