Section 01550 Environmental Controls <br />PART 1 — GENERAL <br />1.1 WORK INCLUDED <br />A. The Work shall consist of the Contractor performing all phases of construction work in a <br />manner that will preserve the landscape; prevent water pollution; and provide for <br />abatement of air pollution and noise. Contractor shall comply with all laws and <br />regulations governing completion of the Work. Contractor is responsible for any and all <br />environmental damage caused by Contractor's operation such as spillage of petroleum <br />products or hazardous waste. Contractor is responsible for removal or remediation of any <br />contamination caused by Contractor. <br />B. Provide environmental controls to prevent water and air pollution. <br />PART 2 — PRODUCTS (Not Applicable) <br />PART 3 — EXECUTION <br />3.1 NOISE CONTROL: Contractor shall comply with applicable federal and state laws and <br />county ordinances, orders, and regulations concerning the prevention, control and <br />abatement of excessive noise. Construction activities shall be performed in such manner <br />that noise level is held to a minimum. All equipment shall be equipped with mufflers or <br />other approved noise abatement devices, and operated in a manner to cause the least <br />noise consistent with efficient performance of the Work. <br />3.2 WASTE WATER DISPOSAL: Grey and black water collected from washrooms and <br />toilets shall be collected and disposed of offsite by a licensed operator. <br />1.3 LANDSCAPE PRESERVATION: <br />A. Contractor shall exercise care to preserve the existing landscape outside of the work <br />areas. Conduct construction operations to prevent any unnecessary destruction, scarring, <br />or defacing of the natural or man-made surroundings in the vicinity of the work. <br />B. Movement of crews and equipment within the right-of-way, within easements, and over <br />routes provided for site access shall be performed in a manner to prevent damage to <br />vegetation and property. <br />C. All destruction, scarring, damage, or defacing of the landscape resulting from the <br />Contractor's operations shall be repaired, replanted, reseeded, or otherwise corrected as <br />directed by the Owner and at the Contractor's expense. <br />Environmental Controls February 2017 01550-1 <br />
